We were determined to get on a picnic today. You have to be when so much has to be done to get there. The lawn had to be mowed. The walks swept. The nectarines cut and dried because the fruit flies were swarming. The kids fed breakfast, then a snack. A neighbor had to be moved. Blackberries had to be picked because they were falling off the branches. Dishes washed, floor swept. Go to the creamery and pick up lunch supplies. Make lunch. pack lunch. Pack up car, change diaper. Get swimsuits. Determine location. Drive to location. Sit down and eat. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? LABOR DAY?
Yes it's a good work we are doing. But it IS work none the less.
The kids loved it and so it made it all worth it. We came home to the smell of drying nectaries and a swept floor. That was really worth it.
